Clinical Case: From Challenges to Solutions. The Impact of Digital Tools in Dentistry – Dr Mohammed Shrebaty, Syria

About:

Dr. Mohammed Shrebaty is a MSc in fixed prosthodontics. Since 2016, Dr. Shrebaty has worked with digital dentistry mainly in guided implantology and surgery, smile design, and clear aligners.

Case Descriptions:

A 60-year-old female patient presented with concerns about her teeth, smile, and chewing function. She previously had two implants placed on the lower right and left sides, but the over-implant crowns were not functioning effectively for chewing, particularly on the right side, where there are no opposing teeth. Additionally, she faced persistent challenges in cleaning her lower bridges on both sides.

From an aesthetic perspective, her primary concern was the upper right side, where missing teeth were affecting her smile. The patient expressed a desire to replace her old over-implant bridges and restore the upper right area to improve both aesthetics and function.

The main challenge was the lack of information about her existing implants. To proceed, it was necessary to obtain accurate impressions of the implant abutments despite not having any implant-specific impression components (such as scan bodies, analogs, or transfers).

To address this, we utilized a complete digital workflow, leveraging available digital tools to achieve the desired outcome.
